NOT FRESH: GURU from rap group Gang Starr dies
Guru, a founder of the pioneering hip-hop group Gang Starr, passed away yesterday, age 43, after a year long battle with cancer.
Guru, real name Keith Elam, tried to keep his cancer diagnosis a secret, but the secret came out when he was admitted to the hospital in March due to a heart attack, that left him in a coma.
Guru was an inspiration to many and he will be missed. R.I.P. Guru!

WHAT THE FRESH: Nicki Minaj Back On The Shelf
It has been confirmed if you listened to Fresh Face Radio Last night (Check us out every Thursday From 7-10p EST http://www.wugr.biz/) we talked about Nicki Minaj and there being a possibility that she might be managed by none other than Mr. One Album and You’re Out (Diddy) Him Self. Looks like Diddy as well as Rick Ross will be co-managing Nicki Minaj:
"According to our source, Minaj subsequently went on to seek management from Troy Carter, Lady Gaga’s manager. Although some websites claim to have confirmed that Carter is co-managing Minaj with Diddy, our source says it isn’t the case and that Gaga pumped the breaks on the deal, threatening to find another manager if Carter took on Minaj as well. When that happened, Carter stepped back and Diddy stepped in, asking one of his own managers, James Cruz, to co-manage Minaj with him instead."

THATS FRESH: Death at a Funeral (2010) Movie Review
Last night, BeShayBe and myself, NikkiYuuup, along with a few other people attended a pre-screening of "Death at a Funeral", a remake of the original British version that was made in 2007.
The movie's all star cast includes: Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Zoe Saldana, Loretta Devine, Danny Glover, Tracy Morgan, Columbus Short, and most notably in my eyes, James Marsden for his roll as Oscar.
“Death at a Funeral” is a MUST SEE for anyone who loves a good laugh. The movies tagline “Die Laughing” is a definite warning for anyone who has heart problems or asthmatic. We laughed so hard we couldn't breath! From sibling rivalry to family secrets, mixed with a little hallucinogenic drug, the movie was nothing but laughs from beginning to end!!

WHAT THE FRESH: Kelis Milkshake Is Funded By Nas
TMZ Reports:
Nas went to court Monday over his divorce with Kelis — and walked out a little lighter in the wallet.
According to documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Nas had to immediately fork over $47,249.42 in back child support and $40,454 in back spousal support.
The judge also ordered Nas to pay $10,000/month in spousal support until he pays off the $299,015.50 he owes Kelis.
Nas also has to pay 90% of Kelis’ legal fees in the amount of $155,787.28.
Lastly, Nas has to pay $48,549.83 to cover Kelis’ accounting expenses.
OOOOUCH!!!! Nas Looks like you need to be making another album buddy Cause She wants everything you got. Or you could do what everybody else is doing VH1, BET, & MTV would be glad to throw you a reality show lol. Kelis That milk shake brought more than just the boys to the yard…

NOW THATS FRESH: Brain Starvation
It was an unexpectedly chilly night, after weeks of 60 degree plus weather, but of course that wasn’t going to stop Fresh Face’s Nikki-Yuuup!, Tianna, and myself from hitting the streets seeking entertainment. Among the myriad of things to get into on a Thursday night, only one person’s event stood out: J Osceola’s The Brain Food Project Listening Party.
If you don’t already know, J Osceola is one of Columbus' top up and coming rappers. Then again how could you NOT know? He’s been all over the city opening up for Jay Electonica, raising money in the 614 Haiti event, and of course doing radio interviews with yours truly, Fresh Face Radio.
As we pulled up to the event being held at club Level, for the first time, not knowing what to expect, the sight of valet parking caused an immediate feeling of class. Once inside all of our senses were sent into hyper drive: our eyes in motion enchanted by the chic cream furnishings; our noses filled with the scent of food ranging from Italian to American; and our ears flooded with the smooth sound of Mary J Blige’s The One. The club was truly astonishing.
Escorted to J Osceola’s private party being held on the second floor, enthused by what we’d already seen, we knew it was going to be a night to remember. We were greeted by the very professional Team Osceola, told to sign in, and given gift bags. The gift bags were well put together, stuffed with promotional material including fliers, stickers, and a CD sampler. To say we were impressed would be an understatement.
After a personal greeting from the man of the night, J walked us in and pointed out the direction of the bar where food was waiting. In attendance wer every media team from the Columbus area including CBusted, Cool Kid Radio, and Jayonna of Fly N Fabulous from our WUGR family. But of course, it wouldn’t be a good listening party without local musicians like One Hood, Dommy Styles, AU, Trek Manifest, and Trav Dave. Needless to say, all the Who’s Who of Columbus were in the building, and the networking potential was endless.
After all the hugging, fist bumping, and my plate was fixed, it was time for the main event; the music. Since Fresh Face’s Mahonale and myself had already attended J Osceola’s focus group, we’d been anticipating hearing The Brain Food Project. One of the first songs we heard when we got there was Billion Dollar Dreams , which after the first listen became a favorite. The song is up tempo, full of bass, and fast. Just how we like it! Even though every song we heard was a BANGER some of the songs that stood out were:

You Can’t Stop Me- Motivational feeling, true display of J Osceola’s impressive lyrical ability, with Amal on the female vocals
“If you wore the same size you couldn’t walk in my shoes”
Sayonara- a trippy retro feel, with a stand out guitar sound that the hip hop heads will love.
“Dear whack rapper, consider this first sentence of a new chapter”

His style can best be described as rhythmic, captivating, aesthetic, lyrically genius, while still remaining positive and not cursing. His sound is the embodiment of hip-hop, and a sound that Columbus has been missing.
As the event wrapped up, we said our goodbyes to the old friends, and exchanged Twitter follows with our new friends. Although our bellies were stuffed from the free food, and our hands were full with the goody bags, there were still hunger pains in our minds from the small sampler of music we were privileged to taste but not fully swallow. I guess we’ll just have to wait to get a plate on May 13th when The Brain Food Project is officially released… until then have a snack.

NOT FRESH: Killing Cousin Over Easter Clothes
Evelyn Burgess, 42, shot and killed her 19-year-old cousin, Danielle Pickens, because she did not like the Dazzey Duks her cousin was wearing. Click the link to read more about this crazy ISH!!!!!!!!!!!!
When a teenage cousin showed up at Evelyn Burgess’ house for Easter dinner wearing what Burgess considered a revealing outfit, the hostess was not going to let the issue go.
According to family members who were present, Burgess got mad when her husband took notice of the T-shirt and jean shorts that Danielle Pickens was wearing.
Burgess and Danielle Pickens fought before Pickens walked outside and got into a car in front of the Linden-area house.
Burgess followed, pointed a handgun at her 19-year-old second cousin and shot her in the head, according to police.
Burgess, 42, told police that Pickens showed up at her house in an outfit that “was inappropriate and disrespectful to wear at Easter dinner,” said Columbus homicide detective Steven Eppert.
He said Burgess told investigators “she didn’t mean to shoot” Pickens, who was wounded at 8:43 p.m. in front of 1666 Manchester Ave.
Pickens, who lived nearby on Pontiac Street, died at Riverside Methodist Hospital at 2 a.m. yesterday of a gunshot wound in the head, said Franklin County Coroner Jan Gorniak.
Burgess is charged with one count of murder. During her initial court appearance today, Franklin County Municipal Court Judge William Pollitt set bond at $500,000.
Eppert said a large number of family members and friends were at Burgess’ house during the confrontation and “quite a few were witnesses” to the shooting.
Yesterday, several family members gathered at Pickens’ house. Her cousin, Tico Pickens, 33, described Danielle as a “sweet, young, caring person.”
“And what happened to her should have never happened,” he said.

WHAT THE FRESH!!!!!!!!: Will Smith Says He Aint Gaye
In what would have been a major career move for Will Smith he said “nay” to Gaye. The Hollywood superstar has turned the role of legendary Motown R&B legend Marvin Gaye who was tragically murdered by his own father at the height of his fame. Smith was to have top lined for director music maven Cameron Crowe who brought his own personal reminisces of Rolling Stone past to the screen in Almost Famous.
I don’t know about you guys but I see this as a role for Jamie Foxx anyway. I’m pretty sure he is looking for another reason to sing and I think he looks more like Marvin than Will Smith. I seen people are saying Trey Songz so you guys let us know who do you think??? Jamie Or Trey

NOT FRESH!: 15 Year Old Sells 7 Year Old Sister to be Gang Raped!
What I want to know is where were the parents? According to the video, the parents reported the girls missing 5 hours prior to the younger of the two being found in the hallway of the apartment complex where the crime was committed. Something major had to have happened to the older sister for her to even consider letting people harm her younger sister. LET'S GET IT TOGETHER PARENTS!!!!
