FRESH...I Guess: Warrant Issued for Lindsey Lohan's arrest

Outside of movies, interviews, and TV appearances, stars do a wondeful job staying in the news.

"Mean Girls" star Lindsey Lohan just can't seem to get it together nowadays.

It was recently announced that the L.A. County District Court wants a warrant issued for Lohan's arrest. She reported that she would not be able to report to court, after receiving a DUI not too long ago, claiming her passport was stolen.

Even though it was reported that Lohan more than likely would not be arrested when she finally lands at LAX, they are hoping she turns herself into the courts to avoid further action to be taken.

Seems like your partying days are over, Lohan. You did the crime....lets do the time!!!!

FRESH REPORT: Bret Michael Gives First Interview Since Medical Incident

All the rockers and VH1 lovers can sleep good tonight.

Celebrity rocker and VH1 star Bret Michaels has fully recovered from suffering a brain hemorage recently.

The star made his first appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show since the tramautic experience.

"My speech is back and I feel great" the rocker greatly expressed. "It was a very scary experience for me but I'm glad to have overcame it all"

Even though the interview was done via satellite, the incident wasn't all in vein. This was the rocker's first appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show to date. He appeared twice on the Chelsey Lately show, but never on Oprah. There's some trivia for you folks.

We're glad that you've recovered, Bret. Take it easy out there. No more crazy VH1 shows with crazy women.

FRESH OR NOT? No Megan Fox for "Transformers 3"

Looks like the third time is not a charm for Hollywood babe Megan Fox.

Paramount just confirmed that even though Transformers 3 is in fact moving foward in full force.....its missing its leady lady.

"Megan Fox will NOT appear in the Transformers sequel" director Michael Bay said. Despite her contract being good for three films and the director even confirming previously she would be back for the threequel, Paramount has decided to release the star out of her contract.

This new doesn't come as a big shocker as there were previous reports that the beauty slammed both the film and had many falling outs with the director himself.

So what do you think guys? Will the new sequel be more successful without the bombshell? Or will it fall short?

I have a feeling that the men of American are not pleased one way or another!!!

FRESH-IN: Terrence Howard speaks about "Iron Man 2"

Being replaced is NEVER fun.

But for one star, the statement remains true: Everything thats supposed to happen happens for a reason.

Oscar Award-nominated star, Terrence Howard, remains nothing but positive after being replaced by "Crash" star Don Cheadle for the role of "Jim Rhodes/War Machine" in the already box office smash hit "Iron Man 2".

Even though the charismatic actor was saddened to learn he would not be returning for the role, he has no animosity towards the comic book franchise and its cast members.

"Despite the controversy, it was a wonderful split and I know it will do well" Howard said. "Robert Downey Jr. was born to play Tony Sparks".

Despite mixed reviews, "Iron Man 2" has already grossed $211.2 millon since its May 7 release.

Iron Man is in theaters now!!!

Freshness mixes w/ Politics: Actress Turned Trustee

The stars are taking a poke at thriving industries outside of entertainment.

Beautiful and talented "Fastastic Four" star Kerry Washington will be joining the board of trustees at George Washington University.

The news comes from Student Association President Julie Bindelglass and incoming SA President Jason Lifton.

In case you don't keep up with your favorite stars, Kerry graduated from the same university in 1998 and received an Alumni acheivement award in 2008.

She has also been a political activist for quite some time as well.

Nice to know that some of the celebrities are involved in everyday politics instead of strictly the glamorous life.

FRESH OR NOT?? Rihanna NOT favored on stage

Can you be considered a good music artist if you can't really give good live performances on stage??

Named "most unique and beautiful woman" of the year previously, R & B sensation "Rihanna" is highly favored as one of the most dominating and competetive women in the music industry right now. But after a failed attempt to impersonate the late king of pop, Michael Jackson, doing the moonwalk during a live performance of "Please Don't Stop the Music", people are starting to question if Rihanna should stick to making albums and making albums only.

Despite not being favored on stage, Rihanna still has a huge fan base following her no matter what!!!

Check out the video:

Now Thats FRESH: You Never Forget Your First

I'd never done this before, but then again neither had he. We were both virgins; pure to the experience. But when I walked in and laid eyes on him, somehow I knew that even though we'd both never been to this place before, everything was going to be ok. After 10 minutes of contemplation, finally making a decision, it had arrived. We took our first bites, and the Chili Dog was so delicious that we had no regrets... for the moment at least. ;)

Since you never forget your first, I was happy to
be sharing my first dining experience at Dirty Frank's with last nights feature guest on Fresh Face Radio, Searius Add. Searius Add is one of the most unique Ohio based rappers, one of the reasons being that he is also a poet. If you read my last blog on J.G. the Jugganaut, you already know how astonishing, creative, and powerful a spoken word artist can be, yet Searius Add is all those things and plus some.

Where did the name Searius Add Come from? Culturally, my name is "Searius Addishin Allah". In my culture a name prescribes the traits and qualities the person looks to add-on to society. Furthermore, the numbers 1-9 and 0 and the letters A-Z represent corresponding principles (eg. Q is Queen, T is Truth/Square etc):
The (S)upreme (E)quality in which
(A)llah
(R)ules
(I) (U)se to
(S)harpen Others---> through being the example of the change I seek to see in the world.
(A)llah
(D)ivinely
(D)estroys
(I)gnorance and
(S)elf
(H)ate (IN) all ciphers----> through being an example of the reciprocal- knowledge and love.
The combination makes me an "example of Allahs (Gods) brilliance.

After Id taken all of that in, feeling like my name was meaningless; I was in disbelief that someone could put so much thought into a name. I was even more shocked to know that this was his legal name, and he proved it by showing me his driver’s license; Searius Add was full time.

You were born and raised in Toledo Ohio, just like myself. What made you move here:

I came here in 1999 to go to Ohio State University where I ran track, I seen how many more opportunities there were in Columbus, and I just stayed.

You also performed a lot of spoken word in college. What are the differences between spoken word and rapping:

I feel that spoken word actually makes my rapping more relevant people take it more serious and there’s a lot less politics. Spoken word is like my lifeline
.

Forever Searius Add
(spoken word)

So many ask why I do rap and spoken word?

I do spoken word so that I’m not viewed as a token bird

Or as a cat or acts rambunctious on tracks

But really is a joke with words.

How long have you been performing;

I started in the 6th grade. I did a talent show where I rapped with one of my teachers who played the drums, against another well known artist who is also from Toledo, Ty Wills. Even though Ty won the contest, I won the crowd.

Searius has definitely come a long way since the 6th grade. His innovative performance style has gotten him compared to music legends like Andre3000 and Common, a mixtape release titled Hard Math with well known DJ Mick Boogie, and also nominated for four Ohio Hip Hop Awards.

How would your number one fan describe Searius Add:

Definitely conscious, lyrical, centered toward woman, with high energy.

Besides your high energy and prolific flow, what makes your show different from other artists:

My fans can tell I put my all into it, they can tell I care. I also do a segment where I take 5 random words from people in the audience and do a freestyle-like spoken word joint using the 5 words. They love it!

It’s rare for anyone to do any type of free styling live these days, so when an artist like Searius Add does, it simply exudes tremendous talent. With dedication like his, I wasn’t too surprised to hear that he spent most of his weekends in the studio until concocting timeless hits like his latest release Black Tuesday.

Black Tuesday is a collab with Columbus’ own artist Sinatra. For the readers who don’t know, Sinatra’s music is slightly a different genre then Searius Add containing a little more street edge. How do you make the collaborations work despite the differences:

Sinatra is like my brother. We met in 2007 and have been rolling together ever since. We have the same passion, just different voices. That’s how we make it work to create good music.

Besides Sinatra, if you could collab with any other artist who would it be:

Definitely Andre 3000. He is one of my top musical inspirations.
Lyrics From Lost My Mind, on Black Tuesday

But its hard when u feel u the realest rhyming

And regardless to the grind u put in u still not shinin

the mass validates ya credit

Even if u hot forget it, props u still won't get it, if the critics don't cosign it

Leaving Dirty Franks, we walked for what seemed to be like 15 blocks down to Searius Add’s office in The Creative Place.
Creative Place is a hub consisting of local entrepreneurs such as our close friends Fly Paper, Radiance PR who you may know as representatives for previous blogged about musician Josceola, and many others. Not only is Searius Add a musician but he’s also a business-man.

What type of business do you run from The Creative Place:
I co-manage The Creative Place while also running Nine Tenths Media Group which focuses on entertainment, multi-media, graphic design, and promotion. We’re also working on Creative Prints, which specializes in wholesale printing things like business cards, fliers, and brochures.

So with music and business, when do you have time for pleasure:

If it’s the right “type” of pleasure I'll make time for it ;-). But mostly I’m in the studio or spending time with my 2 children.

How do you balance being a father, musician, and businessman:

Its difficult, but it takes time management. I have a direct and open line with my little people. My daughter (8) emails me everyday, and my son (3) has me on speed dial.

The genuine look on his face as he described his children made him seem even more relate-able, thorough, and devout. He is one of the most phenomenal musicians to be looking out for in 2010, not that you could miss him, with mile long dreads that he’s been growing since 1998 and a swagger you can see from outer-space.

Where can we catch your next performance:

May 25th at Skullys for the Black Tuesday Release Party and Tour kick Off. Don’t miss it, it’s gonna be magical!

If you want people to know one last thing about you, what is it:

I’m not that “serious” ;-)

As both of our stomaches started rumbling so loud it sounded like a marching band entered the office due to the first- and last Dirty Franks chili dogs we'd ever eat, I had one last question-

Define Fresh:

Unique but as it relates to YOUR demeanor, not anyone else's.

Searius Add is unequivocally FRESH! Want a whiff?

NOW THATS FRESH: Rice and Beans

There is nothing more omnipotent then words. With the right words, anything can be attained. A humorous phrase can make the darkest days bright. The most lustful phrases might have a woman slipping out of her panties on the first date. The right powerful words have turned a segregated country into the melting pot that is now the United States. Something so simply defined as: a unit of language, consisting of one or more spoken sounds or their written representation that functions as a principal carrier of meaning can change your whole life and the lives of others.

So it only seems fair to say that a poet might be the most supreme artist of them all. If you’ve ever known any poets you know they are the type of people who stand out in a crowd of millions, with an aura that couldn’t be hidden even if they had on a billion sweaters, that'll draw you in without them even looking your way. A poet….SMH…is just that deal!

A true fan of anyone with more artistic swag then myself, which isn’t too hard , I’ve known and come to appreciate many poets throughout my life, but it was meeting John JG Jugganaut Gibson, that I said to myself “well damn.”

So readers aren’t confused by the government John Gibson, his AKA is J.G. The Jugganaut. You may remember him from listening to Fresh Face Radio last Thursday, when he was our feature guest. Born in Akron Ohio, his military family and himself later moved to Columbus when he was in the 8th grade.

Being the son of a military man, have you ever considered joining the services?

When you’re born around it you like it or you don’t. Let’s just say I avoided it. My brother did however serve.

Are you close with your family?

My family is my greatest asset.

Much respect is required to any man who knows the true value of family. After a good 20 minutes of conversation, I felt like I'd grown up with J.G. He spoke about his childhood experiences, his college years attending Bowling Green State University, and all the 9-5s he had before he began his poetry career.

How long have you been writing poetry:

I’ve been writing all of my life, I really got serious about five years ago.

Describe the first time you read your poetry in front of others:

It was almost six years ago, and it was nerve wrecking, yet exciting at the same time. I’ve never had a fear of public speaking, but I just wanted to it be right, I wanted the crowd to understand my message, so I just did it! After that I was addicted!

An insert from 101.zero J.G’s First Poem

“Live from station 101.zero

Where we delete the soul, kill creation, and omit real music in stereo

We gotta jam packed hour of bubble gum, bullshit, and teeny bop

We disguise it by calling it urban music and hip hop

If you listenin we only play 8 artists

3 teenagers, 2 flavas of the month, and 1 nigga claiming he the hardest

And 2 coons I know is retarded”

J.G. was born on July 15 under the zodiac sign of Cancer, so it was no surprise I could hear him smiling as he described his love for performing, as Cancers are born for the stage being characterized as imaginative and energetic. If you’ve never seen him perform, you are missing a showcase of pure talent with poetry that combines intellect and fun -a rare combination.

How do you feel your fans would describe your poetry:

Personal, intelligent, educational without being preachy, yet humorous, friendly, and of coarse sexy.

Where do you find inspiration to come up with such relatable topics:

My best inspiration is life experience. I use friend’s experiences and conversations as well. I’ll have people come up to me or call me, and tell me how the poem affected them and has changed their life, and that is the greatest reward of what I do.

Who are some of your role models:

Future, Gil Scott-Heron, and Umar Bin Hasaan to name a few poets. I still also draw inspiration from the other great lyrical connoisseurs like Biggie, Nas, and Jay Z.

Turning words into a story is a genuine illustration of talent, and J.G. reminded me that was what poetry is really about. When he went on to quote some of the most memorable stories of all “Brenda’s Got A Baby” by Tu Pac and “Lodi Dodi” by Slick Rick, I swear I'd found my best friend. If you don’t have your copy of J.G.’s newest release The Jugganauts Thoughts Volume, YOUR NOT FRESH! The Album is a compellation of his poetry read over personally selected beats that’ll have your car audio bumping so hard, everyone in traffic will be jealous!

Since poetry is so similar to hip hop, have you ever considered becoming a rapper:

The only rapping I’ve done is in the locker room in school. I feel that poetry is a little freer then rapping because I’m not just bound to 16 bars and a hook.

How do you set yourself apart from gazillion other rappers and poets out there:

My life experiences are just different. My poetry will stand out because of that alone, and the way I present it to my audience simply commands attention.

An insert from J.G.’s A Poem About Jane

It’s like every time you take one step forward with your right foot

The shadow of your left reaches out and trips you like an 8 year old on the playground

And you don’t stumble

You cascade into a deep depression

Jet fueled by your own second guessing

Your over-active brain forms against you as a weapon

With all the incessant stressing

Got damn it hide the Smith and Wesson

This motherfucker is Suicidal

Lock up the sleeping pills

Pour out the vodka

Going through this with you is tough

All because of line number two

You think too fucking much

After turning poetry into his full time job, J.G. has been traveling county wide to perform. Not only is he all over the place locally here in Columbus including spots like Zanzibar and Kafe Kerouac; he’s been jet setting to cities like Cincinnati, Tampa, Michigan, West Palm Beach, Atlanta, Louisville, Indianapolis, and a lot of places in between.

What’s your favorite place you’ve performed at so far:

Every place is my favorite place because I love to network and meet people. Each place has their own flavor. In Tampa they throw beans and rice at you if they think you’re really good. In Cincinnati they say “Rewind” if they think the line you’ve just spit was real hot, and they want to hear it again.

So since poetry is so similar to rap, do you have poetry groupies when you travel, how do woman act towards you:

Well I try not to use my "power of words for evil” but it seems that whatever the topic of the poem I read is, that is what type of woman I attract for the night. They assume what I’m speaking about is who I am, but I really just want to use my poetry to help women in other ways.

J.G. is truly sincere, smart, inducing and ambitious. His album was a perfect reflection of his extraordinary personality, and a demonstration of his god-given artistic craft that is appreciated by all genders, ages, and races nationwide. NOW THATS FRESH!!! Go see for yourself http://www.wix.com/jugganautical/jugganautical

If you want to get your “Beans and Rice” fix check him out at these upcoming events:

* May 9- Sky Lounge Akron Ohio
* May 15- Tabu Night Club Cincinnati, Ohio
* May 16- Nays 1st Lousiville, KY
